Our Direct Allergy Care Membership Programs

+ Why do you offer Membership Programs?

Membership medicine is a model that emphasizes wellness and disease prevention, and allows me to provide extended services not covered by insurance. Because membership programs are limited to a small number of patients, I can really get to know you.

Our focus on ensuring a strong and satisfying doctor-patient relationship is the key to helping you stay healthy.

It’s the way I’ve always wanted and expected to practice medicine!

+ How do our membership programs differ from our traditional medical services?

You will experience the difference immediately when you visit us at Allergy & Asthma Texas Health as a member of one of our Direct Allergy Care programs. By charging an affordable monthly fee for our Direct Allergy Programs, I am able to provide you with a more robust educational experience and extremely personalized guidance and support.

My goal is to provide you with an experience that will not just meet, but exceed, your expectations for a doctor’s office.

+ What if I am not a Member?

I am still happy to see you in our practice for your traditional care. While it is our goal to provide high-quality health care to all of our patients, I will not be able to offer these enhanced non-covered membership services to those who choose not to join.

If you ever decide to become a member, fantastic! You may join our Direct Allergy Care programs at any time.

+ What does membership include?

Each of our Direct Allergy Care programs start with an individualized comprehensive evaluation incorporating an annual Lifestyle Medicine Assessment. This exam goes beyond what insurance covers, and allows me to gather more in-depth information about your health and lifestyle factors. In doing so, we can address the root cause of your condition, not just the symptoms. Your examination will integrate lifestyle, nutrition, fitness, and other related information. The result is a customized wellness plan that will guide you to achieving and maintaining more optimum health and disease prevention. Our Lifestyle Medicine assessment provides opportunities to decrease use of medications, urgent care, and hospitalization.

As a member of one of our Direct Allergy Care programs, you will also enjoy the following additional Patient Health Education Services:

  • I will teach you and your family, with an amplified level of detail, how to adopt and sustain behaviors that can help manage your allergies and asthma.
  • We will focus on education, literature review and lifestyle behaviors, including allergen avoidance, skin care, healthy cooking and eating, physical activity, emotional health, stress and sleep management.

See the many membership services you will receive.

+ Will I still benefit from membership even if I don’t expect to need frequent medical attention?

Absolutely. I believe patients would see their doctor more if it were easier, less expensive, more private, and less hassle.

At Allergy & Asthma Texas Health, we make it easy for my patients to communicate with me and visit me in the office.  I listen carefully to you to understand how your life, work and family may be affecting your health – physically, mentally, and emotionally. Besides acute care and chronic disease management, our focus is on screenings, risk assessments and lifestyle modifications. We want to identify and prevent disease risk factors, concentrating our efforts on your long-term health and wellness. Together we create a personalized plan to achieve and maintain your optimal health.

Advanced diagnostic tests can help us identify risk factors and health issues before they cause disease, saving you money, time, suffering and higher costs in the long run. Unlike the traditional allergy and asthma practice environment, we have the time to deliver this type of comprehensive and detailed care.

+ Who do these membership programs work best for?

People of all ages benefit from the value-added membership services we offer at Allergy & Asthma Texas Health.

It works especially well for people with moderate to severe disease including:

  • Patients who want a doctor to address the root cause of illness, not just treat the symptoms
  • Those who want to take part in improving their health and staying well
  • Patients who appreciate a physician with traditional training with a strong evidenced-based Lifestyle Medicine approach (examples include health coaching, allergen avoidance, skin care, healthy cooking and eating, physical activity, emotional health, stress and sleep management environmental modifications).

Appointments, Referrals and Care

+ What happens if I’m admitted to the emergency room or hospital?

This can be stressful and often confusing for patients and their families.  As your allergy and asthma health care advocate, I am available to communicate directly with you and your loved ones to answer questions and provide educational support.

+ What if I need urgent care?

If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately. A family member or caregiver can call us later so we can be in contact with the emergency room if needed.

+ What if my doctor is on vacation?

As a member of our Direct Allergy Care programs, you are never alone. Even when out of town, I will still be available by phone for your urgent needs. You will be notified by email before any vacations. If I am not available, I will always have another trusted physician available to assist you for any urgent matters or to be seen in the office.

How Insurance Works in the Practice

+ Do you bill insurance plans?

Yes, we accept most major insurance plans.

+ Can you see me if I have Medicare?

Absolutely.  Dr. Elizalde is a participating provider with Medicare and will bill Medicare on your behalf.

Our practice is well suited to handle the more complex medical issues often associated with seniors.  We can spend the time necessary to manage chronic disease and the use of medications, and work together to optimize your health and wellness.

+ Do I still need to have health insurance?

Yes, you do. Being a member of our Direct Allergy Care programs does not take the place of general health insurance coverage.  However, by providing you with better and enhanced connection, your plan utilization can often be reduced.

How to Join

+ How much is the membership fee?

Please visit call or text at 210.899.6856 for details. We have discounts for families, active-duty military and college students transitioning to independent living and there are no long-term contracts required. You may pay annually or monthly.

JOIN US

+ Can joining our membership programs actually save me money?

We expect many patients may save money at our practice. We can better manage the risks of the majority of your allergy, asthma, and immunology issues and concerns because of our smaller practice and more connected practice model.

In addition, the majority of the membership fee is designed to be eligible for HSA, FSA or HRA funds—please check with your tax advisor.

Studies show that membership medicine can lead to:

  • Less dependency on medications
  • Fewer specialty referrals
  • Fewer emergency and hospital visits
  • Savings on labs and imaging
  • Less need for expensive test ordering

+ Is there a limit to how many patients can join our membership programs?

Yes. One of the most important aspects of personalized medicine is limiting the practice size to be able to devote more time and energy to each patient. Therefore, once we have reached our ideal practice size, we will establish a waiting list.

+ What if I want to cancel my membership?

You are welcome to cancel your membership after three months with thirty days notice. We will refund memberships paid for the full year at a prorated rate.
